In 2013, we got married with one big dream in mind: to spend a magical week on an island resort in the Maldives. We spent weeks researching the perfect Maldives honeymoon, imagining those iconic overwater villas, turquoise waters and white sandbanks. But at the time, we were just starting our careers, young, full of dreams and not yet ready to invest in such a big adventure.

Then in 2019, when our son turned five, we finally made that dream come true. I still remember as a little kid, staring at the computer screensaver, a surreal sandbank surrounded by crystal-clear water and wondering if such a place could really exist. Growing up in Côte d’Ivoire, right by the Atlantic Ocean, I was used to murky waters and strong waves. The Maldives felt like a fantasy.

That first trip was magical. We spent a week in paradise and since then, it became our son’s number one dream to go back.

And finally, in April 2025, we returned, this time for two full weeks, visiting three different islands. Each island had it’s own unique charm and we can’t wait to share every detail of this trip with you.
